How to Grasp the subject...Reply to Miss/Mr Anonymous
Miss/Mr Anonymous: Sir,I am studying for CSE for a..year now.I have BIG problem with GS. You know how it happen. You just don't know how to study ,what to study. Initially..I had problem with polity. I just couldn't grasp the subject. After much search and seeking somebody recommend me to buy Laxmikanth. My problem was solved. Now you know laxmicant is just word to word copy of DDBasu. But I couldn't study for months even when i had basu in hands. Now my BIG problem is economics. PLZ HELP
Manmauji: Hello Miss/Mr Anonymous, thanks for your visit on the blog...Regarding your query, I can understand your problem. The solution of your problem lies in your mind. The first thing you do is start meditation for 30 Mts everyday. You need to be cool and calm in your mind. Don't burden yourself with the thought of preparing for CSE..If you are cool and calm in your mind, you can learn very fast and much more. If you are not able to grasp any thing, you should start reading that stuff very slowly. Devote 5 mts to each paragraph strictly with a watch in front of your eyes. These small techniques can solve your problem. For economics, you should start from NCERT. Clear your basics then purchase UMA Kapila book or any standard Economics book. Later on for updates you can purchase Pratiyogita Darpan Special Economics Bumper issue...Hope your doubts are clear by now..further query is welcome..keep blogging...

An audacious comment by Mr Prasanth
"Kudos to Ms. Manju Madhavan, an IRS officer of 1971 batch, for foreseeing the biggest scam in modern India. She resigned as Member (Finance), DoT apparently upset over the decisions of the Minister and his IAS chelas. In doing so she displayed an exemplary character. People in the Government know how honest and upright an officer she is. At the outset let us put a big full stop to one of the biggest beliefs in India that the IRS is the most corrupt among civil services. Being a Department dealing with the Government finances the Income Tax Department had to bear such noises quite often. Many wrong aspersions are cast on the Department. Corruption thrives in the Income Tax Department just as the case with other Government Departments. But any taxpayer or a Chartered Accountant or a Tax Practitioner would agree that the corruption is more prevalent at the lower levels and among the promote IRS officers. The directly recruited IRS officers recruited through Civil Services Exam conducted by the UPSC are mostly honest and upright. They are masters at various finance related matters and IRS officers are the only civil servants in the country doing the original work in the Department. This greatly contributes to their understanding of the ground realities and one of the reasons for their high success in any field of work. IRS officers have shown their mettle when on deputation to the Central Secretariat and to PSUs. IRS is the only service which can dislodge the IAS from their positions both by their expertise (talent) and powerful service lobby. The IAS are vary of this fact and are trying their best to suppress IRS officers. It is very apparent from the CVC reports that among civil servants IAS officers are the most corrupt. The number of cases against IRS officers is the least among the civil servants. The number of disciplinary actions recommended by the CVC (incidentally headed by an IAS officer) is proof enough that IRS is not as corrupt as is perceived and IAS is as corrupt as the politicians. Everybody is talking about ‘Spectrum Raja’ but what about the IAS officers ‘Spectrum Pradip Baijal’ – former TRAI Chairman and Disinvestment Secretary, ‘Spectrum Vasudev’ – former Economic Affairs Secretary, ‘Spectrum Ajay Dua’ – former Industrial Policy and Promotion Secretary, ‘Spectrum Seth’ – former TRAI Member, and ‘Spectrum Chandolia’ – former PS to Raja. Almost all corruption cases in the country are because of IAS officers. This is happening because of the continuation of the British legacy. The ICS (IAS was then called so) was formed as an arm of the British to suppress the Nationalist Movement. Post-independence the IAS is being used by the politicians to achieve their narrow ends. It’s time to set the things right.
The IAS should be given a specific area of work. They should not be a jack of all trades but a master of one. All civil services should be given their due. An IRS officer is best suited to be a Revenue Secretary than an IAS, an IFS officer is best suited to be Secretary, Min. of Environment and Forests than an IAS, an IAAS officer is the best suited to be C&AG than an IAS officer, an IRS or IAAS or ICAS is best suited to be a Finance Secretary than an IAS, an ITS officer is best suited to be DGFT and Commerce Secretary than an IAS, an IIS officer is best suited to be I&B Secretary than an IAS officer, an IPS officer is best suited to be a Home Secretary than an IAS officer, Scientists are best suited to be Agriculture Secretary, Culture Secretary, New and Renewable Energy Secretary, Science and Technology Secretary, Water Resources Secretary and an educated sportsman is best suited to be a Sports Secretary. An IRS or IPS officer should be the CVC rather than an IAS officer. But why then IAS officers are heading all these Departments and holding the country to ransom. Come on its time to change all this. Modern world needs specialization and honest officers. Our Hon’ble Prime Minister has been a Finance Secretary without being an IAS officer. He knows how the IAS lobby arm twists the Government. He is the right person to take action and fortunately he is at the helm of affairs and in a position to get it done. One should understand that the politicians don’t have the wherewithal to amass huge amounts of illegal wealth. The logistics are provided by the IAS babus. Long back the Rajamannar Committee has recommended the abolition of IAS. This is nothing to do with the persons but related only to the character of the IAS as a service that breeds corruption, nepotism and self aggrandizement which ultimately leads to the failure of a nation."...keep blogging

Regarding optionals...reply to Miss SHRUTI SHARMA
Manmauji: Hello Miss SHRUTI SHARMA, thanks for your visit on the blog and sorry for the delayed reply due to busy schedule...Regarding your query, I know several guys and girls who scored very well in these two optionals and cleared CSE with very good rank as well...So don't worry about it...It is not the optional, it is your knowledge and expertise in the subject which gives you marks...Optionals doesn't play any role in interview..they may ask questions from your optionals but if you know your subject well, you can answer them very nicely...good luck...further query is welcome...keep blogging..
Regarding deputation....Reply to Mr Raghavendra
Mr Raghavendra: Sir,
I came across this blog few days before and really impressed by your guidance for the aspirations.
I'm and IPS aspirant, and my interest is mainly on joining investigating& Intelligence departments like IB and RAW instead of civil police.somewhere i heard that these days there is a direct deputation into organizations like IB,RAW for IPS probationers.Could you give me information on what are the chances of IPS probationers to enter in such depts.
Please give some focus on RAS also.
Thanks,Raghavendra
Manmauji: Hello Mr Raghavendra, thanks for your visit on the blog and kind words about it....Regarding your query, it is good that you have such a dream and desire to serve in intelligence agencies...As far as I know, direct deputation in intelligence is not possible. you need to serve in civil police for some times then you can join them. However, in RAW, it is open recruitment from all the services to serve them directly after your probation is complete but you can not leave RAW once you joined in this system. However, I am not very sure about this fact. further query is welcome...keep blogging..

IRS Vs IAS...Reply to Miss Monu
Miss Monu: [1] would one repent if one opts for irs aahead of ias?considering the cadre system in ias would it not be better to opt for irs instead of ias if one wants to live a peaceful life .
[2] sir i am 25 years of age.i want to be an irs officewr.is it possible for me to still get selected with a gud rank if i work hard from now onwards.will my age be a barrier in my selection
[3]hello sir.i would like to know about philosophy as an optional in english medium.it is generally regarded as a low scoring optional in english medium.can u provide me with marks of candidates with philosophy in english medium.and would u suggest me to opt for it?what is ur advice.
Manmauji: Hello Miss Monu, thanks for your visit on the blog...I will reply your query on eby one:
[1] It is a matter of choice...If you like IRS then there is no need to compare with IAS and be happy..As you rightly said that the life in IRS is very cool and calm as compared to IAS.
[2]Your age won't be a barrier in your selection as you are just 25 yr..good luck.
[3] Philosophy is a good optional...Medium doesn't matter..if you have good command over the subject you can take it and can get good marks as well.
further query is welcome..keep blogging.

And also give ur views abt direction ias of neetu singh mam for geog as i plan to take coaching from dere. thanks a lot sir for everythng u have shared here and like to see more from u !!!! MAY U REACH D ZENITH OF SUCCESS IN LIFE
Manmauji: Hello Mr Ankur Yadav, thanks for your visit on the blog and kind words about the effort...Regarding your query, time management is very essential in mains and specially with Pub Ad and Geography optional....If you are interested in these optionals than you can continue with them otherwise you can think about other optionals as it is going to be a very difficult task...for smooth management, you need to have your mains notes in a very short and point form so that you can revise it in a very short span of time...you have to put lot of effort before the mains so that you need not require any revision at the time of exam...Regarding the coaching institute, you can attend Interaction or Synergy...I think they are covering full syllabus in detail...further query is welcome..keep blogging...

Regarding GS preparation...Reply to Mr GN Gayashree
Mr GN Jayshree: Sir,
Can you please tell me how to prepare for 2 markers in GS History.
Also how to make notes from newspapers and magazines for current events in GS? How to maintain notes? Can you please explain in detail Sir..Should we prepare notes from chronicle? What kind of notes we need to prepare on what topics?I have no idea how to approach GS current events..
For essay, can you please post a sample essay on your blogs? From where to get topics for essay?
Regards,Jayashree
Manmauji: Hello Mr Jayashree, thanks for your visit on the blog...Regarding your query, 2 marker in history can be prepared from NCERT books but since now you don't have time, you can buy 2 marker magazine and just mug the information...regarding notes from news papers, you must make them in short and in point form otherwise it will be bulky...you can have some spiral type note book and write point wise information on same topic...Regarding notes from chronicle, of course you can make notes and even prepare some answers from the topics given in chronicle...for idea about GS current, you can buy last years unsolved q papers of UPSC, and prepare notes accordingly...chronicle used to publish model answers of GS papers, you can make them a guide..Regarding Essay, Wizard magazine usually publish good essay, you can make them as a standard Essay for your practise...further query is welcome..keep blogging..

Regarding promotion...Reply to Miss Aditi Shankar
REgards
Aditi shankar
Manmauji: Hello Miss Aditi Shankar, thanks for your visit on the blog and kind words about it...regarding your query, the promotion time varies on service to service as well on the availability of posts at higher level...However, as per 6th Pay commission, you will be promoted in a higher pay band with in fixed time scale without any change in the job profile..for e.g in IRS[C&CE], officer gets promoted from Asstt Commissioner to Deputy Commissioner in 2 years in general but there are evidences that officer is not promoted to DC but getting DC pay...further query is welcome..keep blogging..
Regarding Trade Service..Reply to Miss Tirumala
Tirumala: Dear Sir,My name figures in the 2008 reserve list. I should get trade service based on my choice in mains form and looking at the availability. Can you throw some light on ITS, specifically about promotions and service conditions as I am not getting any info in this regard on the Internet. Also, do you have any idea as to when the training might start? I am currently well employed, married and will end up doing a lot of juggling if I decide to join. It would help if I know the timeline for joining so that I can plan. Please help if you know something about my questions or if you can provide me some link. I would be grateful. regards
Tirumala
Manmauji: Hello Miss Tirumala, thanks for your visit on the blog and congrats for your success....Regarding your query, the scope of trade service is quite good as you will require to function under ministry of commerce..Since the cadre strength of ITS is very less so you will have good promotional chances...Since the service deals with corporates and trade aspects, you will have enough international exposure having numerous opportunity to travel abroad...Besides, you can join other ministry also on deputation after 5 years of service....But, as you have written that you are well employed, so in terms of salary and perks you may not get enough in ITS...Regarding the joining time, reserve list 2006 candidates are getting joining from 1st Oct..so I hope with in next week you will also get it but it depends on service to service...As you will undergo training in NIFT, New Delhi only so you may undergo training with your juniors in the month of December....further query is welcome...keep blogging..

Regarding Eye power...Reply to Mr AK
Manmauji's Reply: Hello Mr AK, thanks for your visit on the blog...regarding your query, there are some technical requirement of IPS in relation to eye site, you can go through the details in UPSC gazette. There are of course some candidates who make to IPS above eye site 4 + but it may be slightly more than 4...Any major power e..g. 5 or above shall not be allowed as it will be dangerous to your safety. So you can enquire about it and if have more power than go for LASIK or some other advance techniques to get rid of speck....further query is welcome..keep blogging..
Reply to Miss/Mr Anonymous
Manmauji's Reply: Hello Miss/Mr Anonymous, thanks for your visit on the blog and taking pain to write straight from the heart....Regarding your comment, I think it has been mis- conceived by you and taken in wrong context. I fully agree with your views about the accountability of senior executives and specially Group A officers...The quoted phrase was written in the context of a query from a reader of this blog who want to know about IAS scope as he was selected in IRS[IT] and was confused whether he should appear again for the exam to become an IAS. His/her apprehension was that whether he will get the time for the preparation and whether he will be harassed by anybody in the field for preparing for the Civil Service Exam..In this context it was replied that he need not worry about it as no body can harass un- necessarily on this ground and thus this quote was written that 'You are in Group A Service, no body can touch you'...I hope that I am able to make my point clear and politely disagree with your allegation on the particular post....further comments are welcome...keep blogging..

Regarding FC exemption...Reply to All
[1] For those who want to join FC but not received any communication from DoPT: No need to worry about it...You can check out your name on DoPt website and just join the allotted academy with descriptive rolls filled. Even if you didn't receive descriptive rolls from the respective academy, you can download them from the respective academy website..If website download is not working you can even join the academy without them as you will get these rolls in the academy. So, no problem at all..just book your seat and join the big fun waiting you.
[2] For those who want to take exemption from FC:
You can apply for the exemption online on the DoPT website mentioning your roll no of CSE-2010..This will be more than enough...If still, your soul doesn't get satisfaction then you can write a simple letter to DoPT mentioning your roll no of CSE-2010 and intention to take exemption from FC...you need not send any application to the respective academy regarding FC exemption...It may take some time for DoPT to update your name in the FC exemption list..But you should not worry about it and focus on your mains preparation. You should not go for a drive to check whether you are exempted from FC or not..immediate acknowledgement may not be given.
[3] Regarding letter from Parent department:
The letter from your respective service parent department will be sent in the month of November/December only after final updation of the services by DoPT...till that time you all are under the control of DoPT...after the final allocation of services [upgradation of provisionally allocation of services], your file will move to your respective departments and then you will get a formal letter from the training academy and appointment letter from your respective ministry...so have some patience and enjoy the time.
You should remember one thing that now you have been selected by UPSC and approved by DoPT...you will be taken care by them now onwards...So, just enjoy and focus on FC or mains preparation...good luck.

Reply to Mr Ajay Chikara
[1] The temporary service allocation means your service can be updated to your higher preferences in the month of December. It doesn't have any relation with your wrong category status in your UPSC mains form. So be relaxed about it.
[2] You can check your service allocation on DoPT website..If OBC is mentioned against your name and service allocation, then you got the benefit otherwise not.
[3] You can't change your category status in between the process of exam or service allocation.
[4] You can view the questions put by blog readers in the left side column of the blog where recent comments are coming.

[1] Since, this year your batch size is huge, you may be trained at three places Faridabad,Mumbai and Chennai [not confirmed]....NACEN Faridabad has few marriage accommodation but Mumbai and Chennai don't have it...So you have to wait till the final allocation of place to you for your departmental training. If you will be at Faridabad, you can get family accommodation with in a week time.
[2] The gap between FC and Departmental training is generally 1 week only maximum. It may be lesser also.
[3] You are entitled for AC two tier or economy class air fare [from AIR India only]...but I am not sure whether you Will get this to join FC...after FC, you will full entitlement to join your academy.
[4] For IRS[C&CE], there are no compilation of rules related to use of beacon lights. you can have some idea from motor vehicle act which varies from state to states.

Besides, regarding your other query, Yes, I had Pub Ad and Geography as an optionals....ALS printed notes are quite comprehensive..you can reply on them..You should refer other books for diagrams and any uncovered topic in the books only..If possible you can get Mr Alok Ranjan's geography class notes..These will be sufficient...Regarding Pub Ad, Fadia and Sadana are very good books...if you are able to get the concept from these books, it will be suffice....Mohit Bhattachaya is a good book in the sense that it will give you the idea of writing in short about all the things..It's language is good and gives very new ideas which can be incorporated in the answers. Thus after completing Sadana or fadia, you can just go through MB, it will serve your purpose...further query is welcome...keep blogging..
