Role of Age in Civil Services...Reply to Mr Sandeep

Hello Mr Sandeep, thanks for your visit on the blog...Regarding your query, of course, Age plays a major role in civil services for e.g. successful candidate of 21 year old will have the greater chances to become cabinet secretary depending on his/her performance....thus at the age of 27, you may not get the Chance to become foreign secretary of India [due to your choice of IFS]....In India, for promotion, seniority along with the service records are being considered....however, you should not worry much about it...every one has equal chances to serve the country and earn his/her name in his/her career as a diplomat...It depends on the level of motivation and consistent effort along with honesty and integrity....thus age factor is not a big hurdle for you...So good luck for CSE-2011.....Regarding the higher education in IAS, yes ,you can go for higher education on the sponsorship of government of India [Dopt] after the completion of 5 years of service...you can go to any foreign university...but you have to sign a bond with government of India for at least 3 years of service to the government after completion of the course....Thus the trend of higher education in the services [in all the services, not only in IAS] still continues...the procedure for this is very simple....Dopt [Department of personnel] comes out with various schemes for the diplomats and bureaucrats. They have to apply in a prescribed format. After due considerations, name are being finalised for the grant of study leave and scholarship. for more details, you can visit the website of Dopt [www.persmin.nic.in] ...further query is welcome...keep blogging...

Thank you sir for your positive response.Your blog is a much talked about name in the circles of civil aspirants.I would like to suggest you to get published the experiences of your successful candidates from different optionals on a periodic basis. Many successful candidates from your batch must be close to you. They will comply with your request,I am sure.Their preparation strategy and the mistakes they committed in failed attempts will enormously benifit the aspirants. The postings will be genuine unlike the ones published in competitive examinations.
with kind regards

Sir,

Thanks for your blog.It has been wonderful and very useful.

I am a CSE aspirant right from my 8th class, bought the GS prelims guide by Unique publishers in my 10th class itself and have gone through it. But just for an experience sake i worked for an MNC after my B.Tech for two years.Iam 23 years old now and I resigned in June 2009 and started preparing for civils and planned to appear this year. But i do not have full confidence as iam not satisfied fully with my preparation because of late resignation.
Iam thinking of postponing my attempt to next year by going through the principle of 'first attempt should be the best attempt'.So can you please suggest me whether iam thinking in right way or shall i give attempt this year? I also fear the govt may reduce the age limit in the future.I belong to OC category.

Thank you.

Regards,
Chaitanya

Sir,

Thank you for creating such an informative blog...

I would like to know does the period during which a person is going for higher education adds up to its seniority or not?

Regards
