Manmauji:- Hello Miss/Mr Anonymous, thanks for your visit on the blog...Regarding your query, the idea of scrapping optionals in CSE mains exam is under active consideration but so far no concrete outcome is on anvil...UPSC will definitely announce well in advance if there are any changes in the scheme of examination may be one year before the actual changes...This time will be enough to adjust with the changes...So don't worry and prepare well with existing system...good luck...further query is welcome...keep on blogging...

The sooner a common exam / common papers system is introduced the better it will be. Preferably though not necessarily the medium of answering should be English only. It is ridiculous to say the least that examinees giving an examination for common results are evaluated separately in as diverse subjects as Pali literature and Medicine!
Also only 2 or 3 attempts should be allowed to all categories of candidates. Some folks who are appointed after 4, 5, 6 or 7 attempts in fact demonstrate objectively a lack of Merit having become competitive at the same exam only after so many attempts!!
