MEGALOPOLIS INDIAN MEDIA
We are celebrating India's 60th birthday. We are all proud of our vibrant democracy and free media. But with the past experience of Indian media,we can't be satisfied with the way Indian print media or electronic media are behaving. If we analyse the content published in National media or visual media,we find that it is highly urban biased. They are reluctant to cover what is happening in the soul of India "that is poor villages of India".
I can prove this biasness with one empirical evidence in my hand.Last year there was a fashion week organised in India's financial capital "Mumbai".To cover the whole feast around 400 media persons were present from different agencies. One thing should be noted here that this fashion week was to market cotton and khadi clothes.
Now compare it with another incidence just happening 100km from Mumabi that is "Vidharaba" the cotton bowl of India and recent hotspots of farmers suicides.Only 4 to 5 reporter were present to highlight the plight of the farmers. This is the real character of Indian so called free and fair media of Independent India.
Big media barons must ponder over this biasness. We can not only talk about the social inequality and exclusion in terms of economic and social terms but it should cover all other types of inequality and exclusion.
There is a crying need of some devoted reporters to highlight the rural cause in national media to grab the attention of the national policy makers. Then only we can hope for some equatable and inclusive policies and development.

Having read this I believed it was extremely informative. I appreciate you taking the time and
energy to put this article together. I once again find myself spending way too much
time both reading and posting comments. But so what, it was
still worth it!
